Tiffany Thorson

THREE RIVERS COUNSELING is owned and operated by Tiffany Thorson, MSW, LICSW.

Tiffany is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in the counseling arena for the past ten years. Her professional experience has been working in Private Practice Therapy, Mental Health, Medical Hospitals, Bereavement Counseling, Support Groups, and Chemical Dependency Programs. Her expertise has been in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Tiffany's diversity of mental, physical, and emotional health background allows her to incorporate these areas into her professional approaches when treating clients.
Tiffany received her Masters of Social Work from Walla Walla University and her Bachelors of Science, in Psychology from Washington State University. In addition, she attended a one year program on Chemical Dependency to better treat those with co-morbid disorders.

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION

TRAUMA
Tiffany has specialty training in Psychological Trauma through the certificate program at the University of Washington. This has enabled her to effectively treat Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Complex Grief, those with trauma related events, abuse, domestic violence, and more. She has been trained in multiple different techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and basic trauma specific psychotherapy techniques.

BEREAVEMENT
Tiffany has attended the National Share Organization’s Bereavement training for pregnancy and infant loss. Also, her work expertise in the hospital setting has enabled her to walk alongside parents during times of tragedy, whether they are in the NICU, Birth Center, Pediatric, or Adult Setting.

In addition to this, she has completed a Four Part Training on Motivational Interviewing, which has been proven to show quicker results within therapy, thus leading the client towards their goals. In the very near future, she will receive the National recognized “Proficiency in Motivational Interviewing”.

OUTREACH/COMMUNITY

AUTHOR
Tiffany has experience as an author in the local, Tri Cities, MOM Magazine as their therapist writer. This bimonthly magazine features local authors from arenas that directly affect parents in the Tri Cities. Tiffany specializes in bringing information therapeutically regarding topics that are difficult to discuss openly. The goal is to reach the community and provide a comfortable environment to begin to communicate these delicate areas.

BEREAVEMENT COORDINATOR
Tiffany spent just under 10 years as the Outpatient Bereavement Coordinator for the ‘Our Little Lambs’ Program sponsored by Kadlec Regional Medical Center.

OUTPATIENT PHYSICAL HEALTH TREATMENT TEAM
Tiffany has joined alongside multiple physicians, Physical Therapists, Acupuncture in a new developing approach, in which the goal is to provide the patient a collaborative approach within all of the specialties. The team is excited to create a system that can be taught to other practitioners, thus treating more patients more effectively.
